Equifax, one of the 3 main credit-reporting agencies in the country, has been hacked in a massive security breach.  According to New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, “The Equifax breach has potentially exposed sensitive personal information of nearly everyone with a credit report…”

In response to the Equifax security breach, Equifax Chairman and CEO Rick Smith has announced that all customers in the United States will be offered, “a package of identity theft protection and credit file monitoring at no cost.”

How to Find Out If You Are Affected By Equifax Data Breach

San Diego’s Fox5 News has reported that Equifax has a “check potential impact” tool on their website where users can check to see if their information was compromised. However, the tool is not correctly displaying whether personal information was included in the data breach and is only providing users information about the TrustedID program and their “enrollment” date.
